Kevin Kurdziel, President of BroadBand Polkas
Kevin Kurdziel earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Media Communications in 1990 from Medaille University, Buffalo, New York. Although he interned at several legendary Western New York radio stations, including WWKB, WGR, and WEBR, he never broke into the broadcasting field. Kevin decided for a more stable career in social services and workforce development. After 20 years in that field, Kevin never lost his passion for broadcasting. As an accomplished polka musician it was only natural that Kevin would end up hosting a weekly polka music show. (Don't worry he didn't quit his day job). After a year long stint at 247PolkaHeaven, Kevin moved BroadBand Polkas over to Polka Legacy in October 2010. Due to the untimely demise of Polka Legacy, BroadBand Polkas moved back to 247PolkaHeaven in September 2011 and later to Polish New Castle Radio.
While playing in a polka band has always been a side gig for Kevin, he performed professionally for four decades. He has appeared with bands such as the Dynatones, Brass Works, Rhythm & Sound, The Freddy K Band, The Polka Stars, Musicalaires, The Polka Family Band, The Polka Country Musicians, and the Crabtown Sound. Kevin earned two Grammy nominations, one in 1991 with The Dynatones (When The Band Plays a Polka) and in 2009 with the Polka Family Band (Hungry for More). Kevin currently heads DanceHall Detour, a polka/Oktoberfest band. Kevin completed graduate studies in 2013 receiving a Master of Science Degree in Management from Thomas Edison State University.
